My Journey to Restorative Aesthetics

From being displaced by war as a child, to growing up in Ghana, starting over in America, building a career in aesthetics and becoming a Registered Nurse—each chapter shaped the way I understand beauty, resilience and restoration.

I was four when war changed the course of my family's life in Liberia. Before the war, my father was a veterinarian and owned a poultry farm where we lived, while my mother worked as an early childhood educator.

We left Liberia when I was young and lived as refugees in Côte d'Ivoire and later Ghana, where I spent most of my childhood.

But my memories aren't defined only by displacement. I remember my cousins, our community and growing up immersed in Ghanaian culture. Those years taught me about adaptability, family and what it means to rebuild.

At 21, I moved to the United States and began again. Learning a new culture, financial system and way of communicating was intimidating—but it also opened a world of possibilities.

I learned that starting over doesn't mean starting with nothing. You bring everything you've survived, learned and become with you.

I originally pursued nursing because I wanted meaningful work and a stable career for my family. While waiting to begin nursing school, I enrolled in esthetics—and discovered another part of myself.

My first love was lash extensions. What began as a way to support myself through nursing school grew into a six-figure aesthetics business with five employees and its own location.

Then COVID changed everything.

Rebuilding led me back to nursing. I completed my education, became a Registered Nurse and began asking myself a different question:

How could I combine nursing and aesthetics in a way that meant more?

Why Restorative Aesthetics

I am a nurse and esthetician, but those aren't the only things that define me.

I'm a mother, entrepreneur and creative. Family means showing up for one another and loving each other unconditionally.

Outside the treatment room, I love fashion, decorating, photography, dancing, concerts and creating. Those different parts of my life remind me that none of us can be reduced to a single title or chapter.

You are never just one thing. Neither am I.

Restoration looks different for everyone.

I've had to rebuild more than once in my own life. Those experiences shaped my belief that restoration isn't necessarily about going backward.

It's about honoring what has changed while moving forward with confidence.
